Koʻolau Maintain Watershed Partners
A voluntary alliance of major public and private landowners, the University of Hawaiʻi, and the Koʻolau Watershed Foundation, all of whom are committed to the protection and restoration of priority watersheds in the Koʻolau Mountains.
Historic Hawaii Foundation helps to preserve Hawaii’s important historic sites, scenic vistas, and cultural traditions.
UH Department of Urban and Regional Planning
At the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning is an academic discipline that fosters a multidisciplinary set of intellectual and practical tools to help us chart our future in an age of uncertainty. We strive to improve the quality of life for present and future generations, both locally and globally, through planning, public policy and social collaboration.
The Neighborhood Board is full citizen participation in government so that the powers of the City can properly serve and advance the aspirations of its citizens.
Concentrates on energy-related environmental issues in the public interest such as phasing out fossil fuel-based electric generation, HECO and sister producers and their impacts on communities, and energy-related legislation and regulatory oversight. Schedules wilderness outings, hikes, trail maintenance, and other environmental programs on all major islands. Participates in political campaigns and community issues affecting Hawaii’s environment, including endorsing candidates and advocating positions on controversial issues, such as the Superferry and the commuter rail project.
Early Outdoor Circle members are responsible for the planting of many of Oʻahu’s largest and most recognizable trees. However, the organization is best known for stopping the proliferation of billboards throughout the islands. Throughout the years The Outdoor Circle has expanded its scope to include green space protection, view plane preservation, tree advocacy and many other issues that impact the quality of life for our residents and the quality of the Hawai‘i experience for millions of visitors.
